Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2010 From May to December

10. Dinner For Schmucks

Director: Jay Roach
Cast: Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis, Lucy Punch
Release Date: July 23, 2010

Tim (Paul Rudd) is a rising executive who finds the perfect guest, IRS employee Barry (Steve Carell), for his boss's monthly event, a "dinner for idiots," which offers certain advantages to the executive who shows up with the biggest buffoon. The movie is inspired by the movie The Dinner Game, a French black comedy, which has the same line of plot. The film has three of the biggest comedic actors of the decade starring, however, the trailer doesn't exactly do the film justice. This movie could either end up being a huge flop or a summer hit.

9. MacGruber

Director: Jorma Taccone
Cast: Will Forte, Kristen Wiig, Ryan Phillippe, Val Kilmer
Release Date: May 21, 2010

In the 10 years since his fiancee was killed, special op MacGruber(Will Forte) has sworn a life of fighting crime with his bare hands. However, when he learns that a nuclear warhead has been stolen by his sworn enemt, Dieter von Cunth (Val Kilmer), MacGruber figures he's the only one otugh enough for the job. He assembles an elite team of experts, Lt. Dixon Piper (Ryan Phillippe) and Vicki St. Elmo (Kristen Wiig), to eliminate the threat that is Cunth. I've never really been a fan of the SNL skit, but this seems to be much more thought out that the late night skit, and with Val Kilmer starring, it's sure to be at the very least decent.

8. Due Date

Director: Todd Phillips
Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis, Michelle Monaghan, Jamie Foxx
Release Date: November 5, 2010

Due Date is the story of Peter Highman, a highly strung expectant father (Robert Downey Jr.), and Ethan Tremblay, an aspiring actor (Zach Galifianakis), on a cross country road trip so that Peter can arrive in time for the birth of his child. Galifianakis proved that he has what it takes to star in a big time movie in The Hangover, and Robert Downey Jr. has never been short of amazing, so it is sure to be an excellent film.

7. Get Him to the Greek

Director: Nicholas Stoller
Cast: Jonah Hill, Russell Brand, Rose Byrne
Release Date: June 4, 2010

Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) is a drive, idealistic young college graduate who works as an intern at a record company. He is given a break when he is sent to transport English musician Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) to a concert at Los Angeles' Greek Theater. Brand reprises his role as the flaky musician from Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Jonah Hill, well he's basically just Jonah Hill. Judging by the trailer, it should turn out to be one of the better comedies of the year.

6. The Social Network

Director: David Fincher
Cast: Justin Timberlake, Jesse Eisenberg, Rashida Jones, Rooney Mara
Release Date: October 15, 2010

The Social Network is based on the founding of Facebook. The film is adapted from Ben Mezrich's 2009 book The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding Of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal. There isn't much known about the film other than that it is being directed by David Fincher (Fight Club, Se7en) and that it stars Justin Timberlake (Alpha Dog) and Jesse Eisenburg (Zombieland).

5. Robin Hood

Director: Ridley Scott
Cast: Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Vanessa Redgrave
Release Date: May, 14, 2010

Robin Hood will be the fifth film that Ridley Scott has directed and Russell Crowe has starred in. The movie is a more dark take on the heroic outlaw. After returning from fighting in the Third Crusade, Sir Robin Longstride (Russell Crowe), discovers that his village has becoming a spot of tyranny and corruption caused by the new Sheriff of Nottingham (Matthew MacFadyen). Robin Hood works to bring peace and justice back to England and free his village of the oppression brought forth by the sheriff. The movie somehow feels like a sequel to Gladiator, but even then it is sure to be a great film and a box office success.

4. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 1

Director: David Yates
Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Helen Bonham Carter
Release Date: November 19, 2010

The seventh film in the franchise looks to be less of a letdown than the previous movies. Although the entire franchise has been nothing short of a success, the films seem to be lacking something that makes the books great. After watching the bootleg trailer, it appears that this film will leave out less then the past six films, which is excellent considering it is the most important book in the series. It continues the story of Harry Potter, on the run from Lord Voldemort and his followers, searching for the Deathly Hollows to finally bring down he-who-must-not-be-named.

3. Tron Legacy

Director: Joseph Kosinski
Cast: Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner
Release Date: December 17, 2010

It has been just short of three decades since the first Tron was released, so it's safe to say this sequel has been a long time coming. It is the story of Sam Flynn, tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn, getting pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games that his father has been living in for 25 years. They embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous. The film features Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner, reprising their roles, from the original Tron film, as will as newcomers Garrett Hedlund (Friday Night Lights) and Olivia Wilde (Alpha Dog). The trailer for the movie is breathtaking, leaving no doubt that this film will be a box office success close to the holidays.

2. Inception

Director: Christopher Nolan
Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, Ken Watanabe, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy
Release Date: July 16, 2010

Inception is the story of agent Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), who has the ability to drug up tycoons and enter their minds to discover their secrets and strategies. He then uses these secrets to sell to the highest competing bidder. However, after one of these heists go wrong, Dom and his team (Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon Levitt, and Ellen Page) become under attack by a CEO (Ken Watanabe) looking to use the technology for his own singular greed. Up until recently, no one really knew what this film was about, which made it all the more intriguing. With director Chris Nolan heading the project, it is sure to be a hit.

1. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

Director: Edgar Wright
Cast: Michael Cera, Kieran Culkin, Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Release Date: August 13, 2010

A film based on the comic of the same about Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) who meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), but must first fight her seven evil exes. Most of Cera's past roles have been relatively similar and this should be a good film to show a different side and prove he can take on different persona's. With the director of Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead directing, it is sure to have it's fair share of laugh-out-loud humor.
